Latvian National Team is gearing up for key matches against North Macedonia and Armenia in their quest to establish themselves in Nations League Group C.
Of the 25 called up players there is only one significant change – Oskars Vientiess of FK Metta gets an invitation back to the National Team in hopes of making his debut on the big stage. Previously called up by Dainis Kazakevičs, he is yet to be given a chance to represent his country on the highest level. All in all, it appears as though the Italian specialist is transitioning out of the familiarisation and experimentation phase that characterised his relationship with the ‘Wolves’ since taking charge earlier this year and beginning to settle in with the squad of his choice. Even Rihards Matrevics, who was relegated by Riga FC to play for the reserves in the second division for his questionable performance during the previous international window and, allegedly, also for making unflattering remarks about the competency of his club’s medical staff, retained his spot among the best of what the country has to offer.
Vitālijs Jagodinskis is called up again all the way from Cambodia, where he played a key role in helping his club – Visakha FC – set a new record of 8 straight wins. Dario Šits is also back and will, no doubt, be hoping to build on his debut goal during the previous international window.
Latvia will face North Macedonia away on the 14th of November and host Armenia at Skonto on 17th, a day before the national day of independence.
