On Sunday, midfielder Linas Pilibaitis played his final professional match, coming on as a substitute in FK TransINVEST’s 4-1 Pirma Lyga victory over FK Žalgiris B.

The 40-year-old spent his second season with TransINVEST, helping the club secure promotion back to Lithuania’s top division after a one-year absence. This season, Pilibaitis made 26 league appearances, scoring five goals.

Over a nearly 20-year professional career, Pilibaitis also played abroad, featuring for Heart of Midlothian in Scotland, several seasons in Hungary with ETO FC and Mezőkövesd, and a brief stint in Romania with Sepsi OSK.

At home in Lithuania, Pilibaitis boasts an impressive record: four-time A Lyga champion and three-time Lithuanian Cup winner, with domestic spells at Kauno Žalgiris, FK Žalgiris, FBK Kaunas, Atlantas, and most recently, FK TransINVEST.

Internationally, Pilibaitis earned 30 caps for the Lithuanian national team, making his debut in 2006 against Albania.
