The 2025 Estonian Premium Liiga season comes to a close today with Matchday 36, as the championship will finally be decided – will Levadia lift their second consecutive league title and 12th overall, or will Flora reclaim the throne for a record 16th time?
The season began in late February with Levadia taking on Harju in the opener, and now, on November 8, five simultaneous fixtures will bring the campaign to an end. While the European qualification spots and relegation have already been settled, one question remains – who will be crowned champion?
Heading into the final round, Flora hold a one-point advantage over defending champions Levadia. The last time the title was decided on the final day was in 2023, when Flora and Levadia also battled for the league tiele, with Flora securing the championship thanks to a Levadia not being able to win away against Paide.
Now, history repeats itself. Flora once again enter the final matchday as favourites – they simply need to win away against Pärnu JK Vaprus to clinch the title in head coach Konstantin Vassiljev’s first season in charge. Levadia, on the other hand, must beat Harju away and hope Flora drop points to keep their championship hopes alive.
Levadia’s season has been a rollercoaster. After a strong start, their form dipped in the second half of the campaign following an dissapointing European exit, allowing Flora to close the gap and eventually take the lead. Yet the race stayed alive thanks to Levadia’s thrilling 3-2 comeback victory on September 24, when they overturned a two-goal halftime deficit against Flora – a result that prevented Vassiljev’s side from extending their lead to nine points at the time.
For Flora’s coach Konstantin Vassiljev, this could be a historic achievement – he has the chance to become the fifth person in the last 15 seasons who has won the Estonian league title both as a player and a manager, joining Jürgen Henn, Martin Reim, Marko Kristal, and Igor Prins.
Meanwhile, Curro Torres could enter Levadia’s history books as the fourth manager this century to guide the club to back-to-back titles. The stakes couldn’t be higher as all five matches kick off simultaneously at 12:30 (Baltic Time).
At the other end of the table, there’s still tension in the relegation battle. FC Kuressaare and Tartu JK Tammeka, separated by just one point in eighth and ninth place, are fighting to avoid the relegation playoff. Kuressaare visit the already-relegated Tallinna Kalev, in what will be the final career match for long-time captain Marten Pajunurm, who retires at 32 after over a decade with the island club.
Tammeka, meanwhile, face a tougher challenge, travelling to Narva Trans – a side they’ve failed to take a single point from this season, losing all three encounters by a combined score of 2-10.
