As the Latvian futsal squad gears up for next year’s UEFA Futsal Euro 2026, which will see matches played on home soil, the team is set to participate in a friendly tournament in Indonesia next week.

In Jakarta, Latvia will face the Netherlands on September 18, Tanzania on September 20, and the host nation Indonesia on September 21. According to the latest futsal world rankings, Indonesia is 23rd, the Netherlands 28th, and Latvia 60th, while Tanzania does not appear on the list.

Head coach Massimiliano Bellarte has called up a squad drawn from four Latvian clubs, as well as players based abroad in Belgium, Poland, Italy, and Portugal, aiming to test different combinations ahead of the championship.

Meanwhile, the Latvian Futsal Virslīga kicks off this weekend with opening fixtures in Salaspils and Kuldīga, with club representatives providing updates and outlining their goals at the league’s season launch on Wednesday.

The Jakarta tournament will mark Latvia’s first international friendlies since April and serves as a key preparation step before the UEFA Futsal Euro 2026, which takes place across Riga, Kaunas, and Ljubljana from January 20 to February 7.
