Hegelmann secure first-ever silver!

35th round of TOPsport A Lyga saw Hegelmann secure a historic 2-1 home victory over Sūduva, clinching the silver medals for the Radondvaris side.

The match started with a bang as Hegelmann quickly took the lead. Matas Vareika made a brilliant run into the penalty area and set up Michael Thuique, who scored with a precise shot. Shortly after, Domantas Antanavičius doubled the lead with a stunning long-range effort that Giedrius Zenkevičius couldn’t stop.

Sūduva managed to pull one back before halftime. Artiomas Fiodorovas’s free kick was initially saved by Arijus Bražinskas, but Rokas Filipavičius capitalized on the rebound to make it 2-1 in the 38th minute.

In the second half, Hegelmann held firm, despite an occasional nervous moments – Denisas Bošnjakas’s error in the 67th minute had gone unpunished by Sūduva, and keeper Zenkevičius made a series of crucial saves to deny attempts by Thuique and Vareika. Motiejus Burba’s late shot flew over the bar, and Maksimovičius’s attempt in added time missed the target just by a whisker.

With these three points, Hegelmann celebrated their first-ever top-tier silver, while Sūduva remain in 9th place with 36 points.
