Estonian national team midfielder Mattias Käit has joined Swiss Super League club FC Thun, signing a two-year contract with an option to extend for an additional year.
The 27-year-old Tallinn-born player arrives in Switzerland after three solid seasons in Romania with Rapid Bucharest, where he made 107 appearances, scoring six goals and providing seven assists.
“I’m really excited about his arrival. His experience should bring more stability to our squad, and with his physical presence, he’ll add strength to our midfield,” said Thun’s sporting director Dominik Albrecht.
Before his spell in Romania, Käit spent time with Norwegian champions Bodø/Glimt, and earlier in his career developed in the Fulham FC academy in England. He has also played in the Scottish Premiership with Ross County and in the Slovenian top division for NK Domžale.
FC Thun return to the Swiss Super League after winning promotion as champions of the second tier last season, marking their comeback to the top flight for the first time since 2020.
Thun’s 2025/26 campaign kicks off on July 27 with an away match against FC Lugano. A month later, Käit will have the chance to face the other Estonian in Switzerland — Maksim Paskotši — when Thun take on Grasshoppers in the Super League on August 30.
