Just hours ahead of their 18th-round clash with FK Kauno Žalgiris, FK Banga Gargždai unveiled a late addition to their squad, bringing in Portuguese midfielder Latón.

The signing was announced on the club’s official Instagram page with a warm message: “Welcome!”

The 26-year-old, also known as Laton, joins the Lithuanian side from Malta, where he most recently played for Naxxar Lions FC in the top division. His former club currently sits sixth in the Maltese Premier League standings. According to data from Transfermarkt, Latón featured in 15 matches last season, accounting for 82% of total playing time.

Before his stint in Malta, the midfielder had spells in the lower divisions of both Portugal and Spain, gaining valuable experience across Southern Europe.

Banga, currently struggling in 8th place in the A Lyga standings, will be hoping that Latón can provide a much-needed boost in the center of the pitch. The timing of the signing also suggests that more reinforcements could be on the way, especially with UEFA Europa Conference League qualifiers looming, including a very challenging tie against Norwegian giants FK Rosenborg.

With the season heating up both domestically and in Europe, Banga’s transfer activity may just be getting started.
