Three-time Virslīga champions FC RFS have announced a contract extension with Ivorian forward Ismael Diomandé, which will keep him at the club until 2027.
The 21-year-old forward has not featured this season, having been sidelined since August 2024 due to an injury sustained in the UEFA Europa League play-off round match against APOEL Nicosia, where he suffered a torn ACL.
Before the injury, Diomandé was enjoying a standout campaign. With 11 goals to his name, he was RFS’s top scorer in the Virslīga at the time. Only Jānis Ikaunieks managed to surpass him for the club by the end of the season.
Diomandé moved to Latvia and joined RFS in 2022. He has also spent time on loan with Slovak top-flight side FK Pohronie and Latvian Virslīga club BFC Daugavpils. In total, he has made 60 Virslīga appearances, netting 26 goals—22 of them for RFS.
