Latvian Virslīga side FK Grobiņa has strengthened its ranks with the signing of former Lithuania national team defender Rolandas Baravykas.
The 29-year-old left-back, who has been a free agent since January, most recently played for Lithuanian A Lyga side FA Šiauliai over the past one and a half seasons. During the last campaign, Baravykas made 36 appearances across all competitions for Šiauliai, scoring twice and helping the club secure a bronze medal in the Lithuanian league.
Baravykas brings with him significant experience from outside the Baltic region. After spending the early part of his career with Lithuanian clubs FK Atlantas and FK Žalgiris, he made the leap abroad by joining Cypriot side Nea Salamis. That was followed by a short stint in the Albanian top flight with FK Kukesi. Before returning to Lithuania with Šiauliai, the versatile full-back spent two seasons in Romania’s top division, featuring for UTA Arad, Universitatea Cluj, and FCV Farul Constanța — with whom he won the Romanian league title in the 2022–23 season.
A seasoned international, Baravykas has earned 35 caps for the Lithuania national team, scoring two goals. His last appearance for the national side came in a friendly match against Greece in March 2023.
FK Grobiņa currently sit 7th in the Virslīga table with 19 points from 20 matches.
