RFS’ third signing of the summer window becomes the Latvian midfielder Roberts Meļķis, who joins the reigning Latvian champions on loan from FK Liepāja.

Roberts Meļķis is a well-known name among Virsliga fans, as the 22-year-old midfielder has already made 72 appearances across three different teams in Latvia’s top tier, having played for FK Liepāja, FK Grobiņa, and FK Tukums.

Last season, Meļķis started at Viktors Dobrecovs’ Grobiņa, where he was one of the side’s key players, scoring four goals before being called back from loan to Liepāja.

However, since his return, he hasn’t been able to prove himself, especially this season, as he has struggled to break into the starting XI and has started on just two occasions. In total, he’s made 12 appearances and earned one assist in 2025.

The midfielder has represented the Latvia U21 national team, scoring three and assisting two, as well as lifting the Baltic Cup in his last six appearances for the country.

Now the Latvian has joined RFS, looking for more minutes ahead of RFS’ massive fixture congestion. This week, he already took part in their friendly match against Aris Limassol.

The deal has been signed until the end of the season with an option to buy later on.
