As the summer transfer window opens, changes are already underway at FK Liepāja. While the team welcomes back attacker Artūrs Karašausks from his loan spell at Cambodian side Visakha FC, according to Baltic Football News information three players have parted ways with the club.
The most recognizable name among the departures is 21-year-old Senegalese winger Pape Doudou. He joined FK Liepāja ahead of the 2024 season but was immediately loaned out to FK Grobiņa. There, he played 17 matches, scoring once and adding two assists.
In the summer of 2024, Doudou was recalled to help a struggling FK Liepāja side amid a disastrous first half of the season. He made 18 appearances in the latter part of the campaign, including UEFA Europa Conference League qualifiers.
This season, however, Doudou’s involvement dwindled. He featured in only four Virslīga matches — all as a substitute — with his last appearance coming on May 2 against FK Metta. Since head coach Andreas Alm took charge, Doudou has not played a single minute and is now set to leave the club. Rumors suggest he could stay in Latvia, with another Virslīga club reportedly interested.
Also heading for the exit is Croatian striker Niko Domjanic. The 22-year-old was on loan from Croatian top-tier side NK Varaždin and made five early-season substitute appearances for Liepāja. Failing to register any goals or assists, his loan was quietly terminated weeks ago, and he has since returned to Croatia.
The third departure is 20-year-old Ukrainian full-back Oleksandr Chernozub. Despite joining the club before the 2024 season, he never made an official appearance for the first team. Instead, he spent the past two years on loan — first with AFA Olaine in Latvia’s second tier, and more recently with Lithuanian top-flight club FC Džiugas Telšiai, where he played five A Lyga matches.
With his loan in Lithuania ending last week and no first-team prospects in Liepāja, the club has opted not to renew his contract. Chernozub is now a free agent.
