Matas Vareika, who made his debut for the Lithuanian national team last year, is now embarking on his professional career abroad.

The 24-year-old former Hegelmann winger has seized the opportunity to terminate his contract with the club and will now represent Yerevan’s Pyunik until 2027. Born in Jonava, Matas Vareika began his professional career with Vilniaus Žalgiris before moving to Hegelmann ahead of the 2024 season. In the recently concluded season, he scored 13 goals in 37 appearances.

It is worth noting that the Lithuanian was recently linked with a club in Azerbaijan, with local sources reporting that he was close to reaching an agreement with Kapaz.

According to Sportas.lt, Vareika could be replaced at the club by Donatas Kazlauskas, who recently left Šiauliai and is now linked with a move to the team coached by Andrius Skerla.
